چکیده
A recent study using a crossmodal matching task showed that the identity of a talker could be recognized even when the auditory and visual stimuli that were being matched were different sentences spoken by the talker. This finding implies that general temporal features of a person's speech are shared across the auditory and visual modalities.

Something in the Way She Moves: A Fresh Look at an Old Gap
Most studies of the gender pay gap use cross-section earnings functions to apply a Oaxaca decomposition into the contributions of differences in characteristics and coefficients. But the accounts that these studies provide of the gender pay gap are often hard to relate to more informal stories told about the sources of women’s disadvantage in the labour market. Mathematical Platonism is the view that mathematical objects exist. Traditional Pla-tonists believe that a world with no mathematical objects is consistent; subtle Platonists believe that such a world would be inconsistent. The easiest way of getting a handle on traditional Platonism is by imagining a creation myth. On the first day God created light; by the sixth day, she had created a large a...
متن کاملSomething in the way she moves--movement trajectories reveal dynamics of self-control.
This study examined the dynamic impact of self-control conflict on action execution. We reasoned that the tug-of-war between antagonistic action tendencies is not ultimately solved before movement initiation but leaks into action execution. To this end, we measured mouse trajectories to quantify the dynamic competition between initial temptations and the struggle to overcome them. Participants ...
